Signs Your House Needs a Repipe

  • Leaks that keep coming back, in a new spot each time.
  • Water pressure that keeps dropping. Old steel pipe rusts closed from the inside.
  • Rusty or brown water from the taps.
  • Gray plastic polybutylene lines, a pipe known for failing at the fittings.
  • Pipe that's past its life expectancy. A lot of older Springfield homes still have it.

One leak doesn't always mean a repipe. Joe fixes the spot that failed when that's all it needs, and if the lines are done he'll tell you so without trying to scare you into more work.

Why PEX

Joe repipes almost exclusively in PEX. It bends, so it runs in long pieces with few fittings hidden in the walls. It doesn't rust or corrode, and it holds up to a freeze better than copper.

What Happens on a Repipe

  1. The walk-through. Joe looks at the house, where the water comes in and how the lines reach each bathroom and the kitchen. He gives you the price before any work starts.
  2. New lines in. The new PEX runs through the crawlspace, attic or walls to every fixture. Running it means opening some walls.
  3. Tested. Joe hooks up each fixture and tests the new lines before he patches anything.
  4. Walls patched. Joe patches the walls he opened.

Joe gives you the timeline at the walk-through, along with the price.

What Moves the Price

The HouseThe size of the house and the number of bathrooms, the kitchen and the laundry set how much pipe goes in.
Getting to the LinesAn open crawlspace or basement is quicker than a slab house, where the lines have to come down from the attic.
Walls OpenedThe more walls the new lines have to pass through, the more patching there is.
Valves and FixturesOld shutoff valves and worn fixtures are often replaced while the lines are open.

Repipe prices vary a lot from house to house, so Joe prices yours after the walk-through, before any work starts.

Common Questions

Do you patch the walls after a repipe?

How long does a repipe take?
That depends on the size of the job. Joe gives you the timeline at the walk-through.
Is financing available?
Yes. We offer financing on bigger jobs. Ask Joe about it when you call.
